Two Hundred Sixty-Eight is a performance work created by artist Abel Azcona on the Island of San Servolo in Venice. The work was one of the protagonists of the CORPO pavilion organized by the Centro di Archivizioni e Promozione della Performing Art, where Azcona's work was selected and exhibited along with pioneers of actionism such as Hermann Nitsch and Otto Muehl.
The artist Abel Azcona spent more than nine hours consuming two hundred and sixty-eight cigarettes consecutively, without respite, until intoxication. The same ammount as days in his gestation process, again recalling the process in his biological mother's belly, marked by the consumption of alcohol and heroin.
The artist was photographed in different areas of the island that suggest ideas of motherhood, concluding a work marked by resistance, intoxication and a painful process with a critical spirit.
Doscientos Sesenta y Ocho es una obra performativa creada por el artista Abel Azcona en la Isla de San Servolo de Venecia. La obra fue una de las protagonistas del pabellón CORPO organizado por el Centro di Archivizioni e Promozione della Performing Art, donde la obra de Azcona fue seleccionada y exhibida junto precursores del accionismo como Hermann Nitsch y Otto Muehl.
El artista Abel Azcona permaneció durante más de nueve horas consumiendo de forma consecutiva, sin respiro, doscientos sesenta y ocho cigarros hasta la intoxicación. Los mismos que días en su proceso de gestación, de nuevo rememorando el proceso en el vientre de su madre biológica, marcado por el consumo de alcohol y heroína.
El artista fue fotografiado en diferentes espacios de la isla que sugieren ideas de maternidad, concluyendo una obra marcada por la resistencia, la intoxicación y un proceso doloroso con un espíritu crítico.
