Listening is a long-duration performance artwork of more than one thousand hours — which, consecutively, would be forty-two days — distributed between November 26, 2025, and June 22, 2026. In an exercise of listening, Azcona, in different museums across Europe and Latin America, sits in front of various people who recount different traumatic events: stories of sexual violence, child abuse, abandonment, or life experiences marked by pain.
After years of creating performances based on her own autobiographical narrative, Azcona places herself in the role of the receiver and, through listening and writing, transforms these accounts into hundreds of handwritten pages. With an average of two to three hours of listening for each participant, and twenty to thirty consecutively handwritten pages, the work Listening is composed of more than four hundred participants who bring their bodies into the process through self-exploration and speech. The more than twelve thousand handwritten pages form a complete narrative of the violences described, with the aim of making them visible, giving them words, and sublimating them through performance — putting both the body and the story into view.
La escucha es una obra de performance de larga duración de más de mil horas, que de manera consecutiva serían cuarenta y dos días, repartidas desde el 26 de noviembre de 2025 al 22 de junio de 2026. En un ejercicio de escucha Azcona en diferentes museos de Europa y Latinoamérica se sienta frente a diferentes personas que relatan diversos sucesos traumáticos. Desde historias de violencia sexual, abuso infantil, abandonos o experiencias vitales marcadas por el dolor.
Tras años de protagonizar performance en torno a su relato autobiográfico, Azcona se pone en el lugar del receptor y mediante escucha y escritura transforma el relato en cientos de páginas manuscritas. Con una media de dos a tres horas de escucha por cada participante y veinte o treinta hojas manuscritas de manera consecutiva, la obra La escucha la forman más de cuatrocientos participantes que ponen el cuerpo mediante autoexploración y palabra. Las más de doce mil hojas manuscritas forman un relato completo de violencias narradas con el fin de visibilizar, poner palabras y sublimar mediante la performance, poner el cuerpo y el relato visible.
